Here are three of the finest resorts in the world to visit.
- Zermatt
Ski holidays to Switzerland should always include a visit to Zermatt. This resort is incredibly famous and it is consistently rated amongst the best ski areas in the world. The snow is very reliable so if you visit anytime during the winter you are likely to benefit from excellent conditions. There are slopes for all ages, but the advanced skiing is particularly good with awesome mogul fields and steep gullies. Above all, skiing in Zermatt will allow you to see incredible views of the Matterhorn, one of the most beautiful peaks in the world.
- Whistler
Whistler in British Columbia, Canada has dominated the skiing world for the past two decades. With two peaks to choose from, Whistler and Blackcomb, visitors benefit from amazing terrain and lovely weather. Indeed, it is normally quite warm here and temperatures rarely dip below minus ten degrees Celsius. There are lovely bowls on both mountains that are ideal for intermediates and beginners – generally, advanced skiers should stick to Whistler while those starting out will enjoy Blackcomb.
- Chamonix
This list wouldn’t be complete without an entry from a French resort. Indeed, France has summed up the ideal ski holiday experience, and everyone needs to experience the distinct charms of chalet life at least once in their lifetime. Chamonix is set spectacularly at the foot of Mont Blanc, another incredibly famous mountain, and there is some truly amazing high-alpine skiing to be had. This high-alpine setting ensures the snow is always crisp and wonderful. The resort itself is also lovely and you will love wandering through the calm streets and popping into great eateries to sample the delights of French food – be ready to eat lots of ham, potatoes and cheese!
