Similarly Jet Airways on wednesday unveilled its plans for the newly created hub at Brussels. Jet Airways will operate five flights a day from India to the Belgian capital and provide seamless connections for onward journey to the US and Canada.
The hub would give the airline access to the entier Europe besides allowing services to North America. These first five flights would be launched from Mumbai to Newark via Brussels on August 5th. The airline would also start four more flights from Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad to connect New York, Chicago, Toronto and Los Angeles by summer next year.
Besides the Brussels operations, Jet Airways would also launch a flight to San Francisco via Shanghai and was in the process of finalising a codeshare deal with Australian carrier Qantas to carry passengers to Australia via Singapore.
Rediff has reported that US carrier Sapphire Airways is planning to launch its services to India from next year. The proposed carrier, which is yet to get its approvals from the US Federal Aviation Authority, plans to start its services from San Fransisco to Bangalore via Munich from June 2008, the company's Chairman and Founder Rahul S Puranik told PTI in Mumbai.
The airline is planning to offer competitive fares which will be lower than those charged for direct flights. The funny thing is, the airline does have a website but all it says is "Under Construction" and give only one email address as its contact. The site probably has a tieup with Expedia. I wouldn't travel to India using this airline for sure. At least for now.
I dont know if Indian Airlines which is now known as Maharaja has any plans for expansion or not but Maharaja is definately in a race to buy Serbian Airline. The two merging state run carriers are bidding to buy controlling stakes in Jat Airways, Serbia’s national airline.
It’s the first time in its history that Air India is looking at buying another airline, let alone an international flagship.
