Thanks to Narendra Modi, Ahmedabad is on the threshold of transforming into one of India’s leading cities. It is India’s seventh largest city and poised to be a financial hub in western India.

Ahmedabad BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) is a bus based high quality, high capacity rapid transit system. In a BRT system, vehicles travel in exclusive lanes, thus avoiding congestion. There is provision of segregated right-of-way infrastructure, rapid and frequent bus operations, easy boarding and alighting facilities for the passengers and excellence in marketing and customer service.

The Ahmedabad BRTS was officially named as “Janmarg” by Shri Narendra Modi which means “people's way” - a road that would carry the citizens of Ahmedabad in safety, comfort and at high speeds.

I just noticed today that Ahmedabad BRTS gets its own website and the site is called AhmedabadBRTS.org. The website has all the information about Ahmedabad BRTS, its project timeline and many other sections are still under construction.

TOI reports that Ahmedabad BRTS is all set to launch in few weeks now. Amdavadis can travel on the Bus Rapid Transport System at the economy prices. Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL) ticket fare committee has proposed that there should be no difference in AMTS and BRTS fares.

In the first stretch between Chandranagar and RTO circle, AJL plans to introduce 22 buses with a possibility of five air conditioned buses, which will be introduced later. AJL has been doing dry run of their GPS system with 14 buses.

The commuters will be given a smart card', which can be recharged anywhere between Rs 50 to Rs 1,000. Also AJL wants to offer two types of smart cards one with a photo and other without. The photo-identity smart cards would be for commuters like students, senior citizens, disabled and other categories to prevent duplication or substitute use of such passes. The smart cards would be issued at special city civic centres in different zones of the city.

    Sir,
Thank you for providing this platform.
I completely agree with my friend Praful Desai who has posted the suggestion of training ticketing staff.
I commute on BRTS daily btn Krinshna Nagar to Jasoda X Rd.
The daily hot topic in the bus is jamming of bus gate. Though it is a matter of self understanding yet if the staff may be trained in making public aware of effort of the govt providing better infra and about how to use it.
I feel sorry of those who always cry fowl of govt but when it comes to facilitating with new amenities by it they do not know how to use it in a better manner.

Also I would like to know if any monthly concession system is on anvil?

I agree BRTS staff needs to handle people more with empathy but what about those who do not obey rules, i have seen very often at shivranjni cross roads card and two wheeler drivers jumping in front of or blocking the way of the bus.

before turning they are aware of that BRTS bus is on the way still it is done
so ATTITUDE is to be improved and defaulter irrespective if who they are need to be fined heavily

Suggestions below are submitted for your kind consideration:

1.Need to train the ticketing staff at various Bus Stands more particularly about their attitude, mannerism while handling the passengers.

    2. At Chandranagar Business approach by Senior Citizens has become increasingly difficult with uncontrollable traffice, more particularly at the Chandranagar Junction.
Trafffic Signals are installed even before the commencement of the BRTS Bus Service. However, they have not been made operational by the Traffic Department of the Ahmedabad Police.Suggestion is that BRTS Authorities and Police Traffic Authorities should at once coordinate and make the Chandranagar Traffice Point more safe.

3.BRTS authorities should consider issuing Senior Citizen Concessional Cards to Senior Citizens like the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Corporation.
4.Re:Smart Cards for regular travellers by BRTS.

Kindly care to send me a reply at your convenience.
