We have been using webmail for almost 10 years now. Things changed, internet evolved over the time and now internet is not constrained only to computers and laptops. You can now access internet from your mobile phones too. Mobile phones are now WAP enabled and one can do everything possible on the regular computer.
Mobile phones are getting smarter and smarter but we still have mobile phones that are not "smart phones" but do have WAP enabled browsers which can access basic web pages. So if you are planning to access webmails, it won't work from your basic mobile phone. So "to solve this issue", a company based off of Bangalore has introduced a new website which provides email ID accessible over ordinary mobile phone.
The site is called {ln:nw:http://www.emailatmobile.com 'email@Mobile} which gives you an email ID and web interface which can be accessed via mobile handset with WAP 1.2 or above browser, in any network via GPRS. You can access attachments, including image files, Microsoft Word documents, and .PDF files.
I tried the service and was able to send/receive emails without any problem. I haven't tried the email attachments. I am not sure how that works. You still require GPRS though.
The question I have is, why to have another email ID? Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft (the mostly used email services) now provides WAP access to your emails. Why would someone register for this new email ID when they can still access their existing emails over WAP? And if thats not the case, there are {ln:Convert your cell phone into BlackBerry 'applications}/{ln:nw:http://www.teleflip.com 'free services} which allows you to access those emails via any WAp enabled phones.
