TinselVision, a Tinsel Cinema broadband Internet, video-on-demand (VoD) service targeting South Asian communities in the US, UK and Canada recently launched their portal in beta. The company got series A funding back in June this year.
The company announced the content deal with Zee television and STAR India. TinselVision also made a deal with Yash Raj Films where TinselVision got rights to distribute hit movies as Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Silsila, Saathiya, Salaam Namaste and Fanaa.
Company also announced its content deal with Shemaroo & B4U Music. So lets see what its all about. I got an email invitation to beta test TinsenVision.com the site which provides all these digital content online, not free but with some nominal charges.
After following the email invitation, I registered to the site and landed on the front page which provides upcoming movies, sports, television shows, most downloaded videos etc. TinselVision also runs couple of their own shows like Inside Tinsel hosted by Mini Mathur, Lets Talk, Popkorn and Page 3 (Zoom TV).
So I tried their "Free Content" first (Free always attracts everyone's eyes). All they had in Free content was those Zoom tv shows trailers and Inside Tinsel show's trailer. When I tried to watch those trailer, I got "Coming soon" video which was not right. I thought they would atleast put something for beta testers but I was wrong. Is it too early to test? But then why would they send an invitation?
Next I browsed their movies catalogue and they have about 20 movies currently but they will add more movies later. One interesting thing I noticed was the release year for Dhoom 2. It shows as "2004" instead of "2006". I hope they correct it (see image below).

What I noticed though was there were no free movies at all. Like Rajshri.com and BigFlicks.com, I would expect atleast couple of movies that they would provide for free. BigFlicks and Rajshri are doing great right now and as you can see I have one poll going on on this site (on the left section of this site) where I am collection information from users about their favourite site for online movies. I will release the results next month.
When you register you get a free movie and free television episode coupen from TinselVision that you can use to experience TinselVision but I haven't got chance to do so. I will be doing that soon and will post the updates here. If you would like to try TinselVision, you can register here.
Do drop us a comment if you have tried the service.
