The real estate/property search website by People Group, Makaan.com has been launched officially. Even though its still in Beta. I don't understand one thing, if they officially launch the product then why keep the "Beta" ? Are they planning to remove it later or just keep it as it is. Its just drives me crazy when each and every site launches their product with "Beta"
Makaan.com has same old features as other hundred property search sites do. List your property, find property, rental property, commercial property for lease and what not. So what makes Makaan.com unique? Being a consumer, why should I go to this site? This is the question that comes to my mind everytime I see a new startup. Lets talk about their property search feature and listing feature.
The front screen provides dropdowns to look for your city and search the kind of property you are looking for. Search is based on categories. So I have to first select the property type, then city then budget and then bedroom requirements. That is a lot of work for the user. User can't just type in area name and city. They could have made their search smarter. Anyways, talking about categories, the dropdown values are not sorted by name. Now come on, that should be a basic development standard that whenever you have a dropdown, it should be sorted. So if I am looking for a particular place, I will have to go through the whole dropdown list to find it out.
Talking about listing your property, Basic listing is free, fast responce listing is Rs. 900. So what is the difference between Basic listing and Fast Response listing? Basic listing will display your property on search result page. Fast Response listing will "Prominently" display your property on search result page. huh. Both the listings are for a time period, former is for 30 days and later one is for 60 days.
To conclude this, I don't see any outstanding feature which would make me use this property search site instead of my existing property search site.
