They started with a successful live stream from India (Premier League matches) and said that they are looking further to make a big investment in this video streaming area. The YouTube’s content partners will be the only ‘receivers’ after a two-day alpha test and not to normal users.
Before to go on with the Live Streaming service, Google wants to ensure that pranks and stupid videos will no longer go online, so a two-day test will begin today and YouTube’s content partners (Howcast, Next New Networks, Rocketboom and Young Hollywood) will take care of that. The live stream option will be available directly from YouTube Home page, but the live footages would not be archived. Instead, the YouTube’s content partners will be responding in real-time to user’s feedback.
From now on, if you’ll want to watch your favorite TV shows on YouTube in live stream, you should know that it’s possible to see an ad-base live stream. There you’ll need to watch 30 second ads in the live stream.
If in the past YouTube made possible live streams from Presidential Speeches, U2 Concert or IPL Cricket Matches using Akamai’s CDN, now YouTube has its own CDN (content delivery network) so perhaps the non US users will not be able to watch YouTube’s Live Stream.
It is sure that after YouTube will start the live stream service a lot of companies will publish more ad content using YouTube’s live channels. Even though YouTube is new in live streaming, it has a worldwide reach and it will be soon the leader on this market.
