Sophisticated hacking attacks have taken place on Facebook and Twitter. Apple iPhone users have also got their pass codes bypassed. Facebook has revealed that it has been a target of a vicious hacking attack by a set of people who have taken advantage of a loophole in the system of Facebook which has not been known to many. The social networking website is consoling its users that their personal information has not been compromised in this hacking coup.

People are being warned of a snooping kind of technology that is tracking their movements and predicting their future behavior based on the information taken from social networking websites. This software mainly relies on Facebook and Twitter to create a picture of people’s lives in detail. This kind of software can create a storm and raise issues over invasion of privacy and a breach of civil liberty.

Facebook turned nine years old today. The world’s largest social networking site began on 4^th February 2004. It was started by Mark Zuckerberg in his sophomore year at Harvard. He had tried to launch the site earlier in 2003 and was going to call it `Facemash’ but Harvard University administration did not allow it as he had procured information by hacking into the university administration records for the site.
