With the internet getting into more and more people's computer, information is right at your fingertips. There are about more than a billion people using facebook everyday and about the same people using Youtube to watch their favorite videos online.
But there are always those country specific content that is blocked for users outside those countries. Ever wanted to watch an online video from CBS or BBC iPlayer, only to find it’s only available to those people living in the United States or UK? Well, here is a neat little solution that will solve your problems and open up your computer to millions of videos and web services from all over the world
Netflix, Hulu Plus, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Instant Video are great services offering awesome content but cannot be accessed from anywhere outside of USA. Sure you can use proxies to access those services on your computer but what about accessing those from PS3 or say your Samsung Smart TV?
Well, there is a service called UnoTelly that provides UnoDNS service an innovative technology called DNS Direct Connection to overcome these limitations. DNS Direct Connection allows high-speed and direct connection to CBS, Hulu, Netflix and other geographically restricted services in the US, UK and many other coutries. In simple words, you can use all those US based streaming services like Pandora, Spotify, Hulu, Netflix etc from outside USA.
How does it work?
Once you signup with UnoTelly, their setup wizard will guide you to step by step instructions on how to make UnoTelly work with your device. You can either do it on an individual device basis or setup the UnoTelly DNS settings at the router level. If you have used OpenDNS, this is pretty much the similar setup.
UnoDNS uses Comodo SSL so you don't have to worry about the security and worrying about someone spying your internet activities.
UnoTelly Device compatibilty
As you can configure UnoTelly with your home router or office router, this makes all your connected devices instantly compatible with UnoTelly. Whether its a PS3, iPad, iPhone or Android tablet, it all works and you can watch all the shows from Hulu, Netflix, ABC, NBC etc on your devices without any restrictions.
GeoRestricted Content for Other Coutries
So that was the story about content that is specific to USA or UK. What about other coutries? For e.g. Yahoo Movie Plex offers free Hindi movie online. But if you are in USA, you won't be able to watch it. Yahoo Movie Plex is georestricted. I tried to use UnoTelly to watch Yahoo Movie Plex but I was out of luck. A quick email to the support got me a reply with some positive attitude. The team told me that they have already started working on fixing that issue and I will be notified once its available.
Overall, I am pretty happy with the service.
