Good News – Apple’s New Iphone 3G Would Launch Shortly In Indian Markets

Good news is that recently Apple made announcement on its website that it’s new Iphone 3G would be launched in India shortly by partnerships with some GSM mobile service providers here.  Apple made the announcement to confirm that we’ll see the iPhone 3G in Indian market shortly – may be after 2-3 months or this month itself as it would be launched in US on July 11.

Apple has partnered with Airtel and Vodafone who would bring this cool goodie to Indian market shortly.  Though Airtel has not made any official announcements regarding the Iphone, but it is inviting users to preregister so that they can buy the phone after the launch. Unlike Aritel, Vodafone has already made announcement about the launch of Iphone here however the exact date of launch is still not known. We can guess the Iphone that launches in USA on July 11 would be launched here the same date or after a month.

Expected Pricing of Iphone 3G In India

The price of Iphone in Indian market will remain uncertain until it’s finally launched as neither of the two firms bringing them have not even talked of the expected price. Iphones that are not manufactured here would be imported leading to many extra charges including excise and taxes. Iphone 3G would be priced $199 in usa where it’ll launch on 11^th of this month but the expected price in India is from $400 minimum to $600.

Iphone 3G is not only much faster than the older iphone but has a longer battery life too. It’s equipped with 3G Services, GPS with Maps, App Store, Microsoft Exchange Servers and many more features.  Also it has made the design a bit slimmer and good looking than the old model. But in India the majority of 3G services won’t work as 2G has not even penetrated to any good extent in our market. Also we don’t think iphone users in India would like the GPS features as it’s based on GPRS internet which is very costly here. Vodafone’s unlimited GPRS package would cost about Rs 800 per month and speed is not so good like any other Indian GPRS providers.
