Have you ever used a mind map to represent your words, ideas or tasks? A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea. It is used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing.

Mark Shepherd has created a cool web application using open source SpringGraph component that can convert your text into mind maps. You can enter your text in the edit section and once clicking the "Create Mind Map" button will give you nice visual map for your text. You can customize the mind map with colors, font size and also can download the mind map as a JPEG.

    I'll be adding it to the mind-mapping.org directory.

    But I wonder, how is this different from Mappio? That was originally launched as a plain-text-to-mindmaps converter. It did not take off.

    Now it is a mindmaps library which still has the plain text to mindmaps converter available but has moved away from that focus.

    For me, the tree hierarchy that is hard to get away from when starting from a text outline, is the killer. Too rigid.

    May be you are right.. its no different than Mappio. May be its another meme site or may be it has future plan for something else.
