पुरानी लोक कथा है जिसे सभी पढ़ या सुन चुके हैं। एक किसान अपनी दो बेटियों से मिलने गया। एक बेटी किसान के घर में ब्याही थी। वह उससे मिलकर अपने घर जाने को तैयार हुआ तो बेटी ने कहा-‘पिताजी, भगवान से प्रार्थना करिये इस बार बरसात जल्दी और अच्छी हो क्योंकि अब खेतों में बोहनी का समय निकल रहा है।’
किसान ने कहा-‘हां भगवान से प्रार्थना करूंगा कि इस बार अच्छी और जल्दी बारिश हो।’
उसके बाद वह अपनी दूसरी बेटी से मिलने गया तो चलते समय उस बेटी नेे कहा-‘पिताजी, भगवान से प्रार्थना करिये कि अभी बारिश न हो क्योंकि
हमारे मटके धूप में सूखने के लिये रखे हुए हैं अगर पानी पड़ा तो सब बरबाद हो जायेगा। फिर बारिश होते ही उनकी बिक्री भी कम हो जाती है।’
यह तो पुरानी कहानी है जिसमें वर्षा ऋतु को लेकर मनुष्य समाज का अंतर्विरोध दर्शाया गया है पर वर्तमान समय में तो यही अंतर्विरोध एक मनुष्य में ही सिमट गया है और खासतौर से शहरी सभ्यता में तो इसके दर्शन प्रत्यक्ष किये जा सकते हैं।
