Normally IM clients do have an option to store your chatting history on your local machines so that you can access it anytime and refer to it. But there is a problem, what if you are away from your computer and want to refer to your chat log?
A new website has recently launched to solve your problem which gives you an interface to save all of your important IM conversations on a secured web server, the same way you save your e-mails. Good thing about this site is, it supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Trillian and many more Instant Messengers.
The site is called SIMKL.com. Its in closed beta phase and can be accessed only via invitations. I happened to got an invitation to test SimKL (Always Simple) and I would say its definitely simple and impressive.
Registration process was quite simple. I wasn't happy with their "Security Question" though. Check out the below screenshot. Couple of their security questions are quite personal, e.g. Passport Number and Mother's maiden name. I wouldn't want to keep my security questions from one of those for sites that offer such service. They should probably include few more options like school teacher name or favourite place etc. Thats just my opinion.
The site doesn't require you to download anything on your computer rather you need to setup a proxy in your IM client that points to simkl's servers. Once you add your IM account, it will give you your unique proxy username and password that can be setup into your IM client.
Check out their Blog for the screenshots and if you would like to try the application, register here.
Updates: If you don't want to wait for the invitation, you can use the invitation code "backdoor". Thanks to Ammily for the "secret". :-)
