Those of you who are associated with Software or Computing field might know the term I/O. input/output, or I/O, refers to the communication between an information processing system (such as a computer), and the outside world. Languages like Java & C refer I/O as to handling files.

So the name Drop.IO to me refers to Drop your I/O (files) in the space and share it. A drop is a 'discrete' chunk of space you can use to store and share anything (pictures, video, audio, docs, etc) privately, without accounts, personal registration, or email addresses.

You just select the file you want to upload/share, it will give you an option to password protect your drop. Once the drop is created, you can either delete it, drop more files to it, remove already created files and share it with your friends. You can not only drop files but add notes to it, add your favourite links to it and guess what? You can put a file in that space via email as well. the email address would be your_drop_name@drop.io.

Once you have added files to your "Drop", you can view them in three different way. Chronological View, Media View and Interactive View. What I liked about this site is the simplicity. No advertising, no popups, no fuss. Pretty simple and neat solution to share your files across the web.

Check out Drop.IO. Personally recommended. A must have URL in your favourites.
