Following the Google's '5GOOG' SMS service, Yahoo launched its oneSearch SMS service in India. Yahoo enables mobile users to search for any content through its 58342 service. As many of you might know that using its short code 58243, one can chat to his/her friends on yahoo messenger through SMS. Yahoo is been using this short code for quite a few services.
So basically, yahoo oneSearch is one more addition to the list of 58243 services. Following are the new examples of using yahoo oneSearch SMS service.
- SMS to 58242 with the city name (e.g. Ahmedabad) returns back the weather
- SMS to 58242 with company name or category and city name retuns the list of business within that city.
- SMS to 58242 with the company name (e.g. Reliance Communications) returns back the stock quote
- SMS to 58242 with a news topic (e.g. Saif and Karina) returns back a news article
Yahoo has also enhanced its oneSearch WAP product and has introduced new content clusters including local business listings, flight status information and Yahoo! Answers content.
