The 16 GB version of the tablet was being offered earlier by some online retailers at Rs. 26, 000 with free BlackBerry Curve smartphone. The Playbook was launched earlier in June this year amidst a lot of fanfare but it failed to attract the users in the way BlackBerry would have hoped for. However, the tablet can be compared with the best in the market. It has a good build quality and a smart user interface.
Even though there are other Android tablets available at similar prices like the Reliance 3G Tablet but quality wise, the Playbook is far superior to that. The Playbook is also likely to be upgraded soon. It will be available shortly with native eMail support. For this purpose, the current version needs to be bridged with a BlackBerry smartphone. Many Android Apps will also be working on the Playbook soon, offering the users much wider application options.
The prices on the Playbook versions are being slashed as a limited festive season offer. Research in Motion Limited announced that these promotional activities are being undertaken all over the world.
