It has been reported that Google is working on making eyeglasses that will display information about the whole world around us. The high tech specs would tap into Google’s cloud-based location services to transmit details about the user’s surroundings. The visual information will then appear as a three dimensional augmented reality computer display. This concept is known as wearable head-up displays (HUDs).

The spectacles are supposed to be in the late prototype stage. This has been learnt from the tech news site, 9to5Google. The glasses would be similar in appearance to the conventional eye spectacles but with a few buttons on the arms. The actual display technology is not known yet, but it is speculated that they may use a transparent LCD or AMOLED screen. Google and Apple are both working hard on fashioning wearable technology.

Apple is working on an iPod that will wrap around your wrist and through that you will be able to use Siri to give commands. Another concept that is being worked at is technology placed on your body or clothes to communicate with your smartphone as a hub. The Google spectacles are going to be named `Google Goggles’.

The eyeglasses are most likely to come out with built in GPS and will be able to access the internet through Wi-Fi or a mobile phone’s connection. Google has taken the help of engineers from Nokia, Apple and other engineering universities with an expertise in wearable computers to make these spectacles and other wearable products a reality.
