Start by removing all the switch plates and outlet covers from the wall and move the furniture out of the room or at least into the center so you will have some room to work. It will be a good idea to spread some drop cloths on the floor at the base of the walls where you are removing the wallpaper. When you spray the wallpaper with water to soften the glue, the new vinyl coated wallpapers will prevent that water from getting in and softening the glue. So, make holes in the wallpaper surface to allow the water to penetrate. You can score the surface lightly with a utility knife or a scoring tool.
Once you have finished scoring the wallpaper, you can wet the walls with warm water and vinegar by using a sponge and let that be for at least half an hour. After that, you can pick a corner and gently peel back on the wallpaper. You will probably need a wallpaper scraper held at a low angle to scare the paper off in sections. You may have to spray a little wallpaper remover on the stubborn areas as you work your way across the first section.
Once the wallpaper is off, You have to get rid of the glue that is left on the walls Tri sodium phosphate mixed with warm water should wash the glue off the walls. It will leave a smooth surface. You will also need to repair any holes that your scraper might have made in the dry wall. You can fill with drywall compound and smoothen it out. It can dry overnight. After applying a primer, you are ready to paint.
