HP TouchPad has a feature where your webOS based phone can sync up with your TouchPad and allows you to send an receive SMS messages to your TouchPad. Well if you don't have webOS based phone, not to worry. Now you can sync up and send and receive text messages on your TouchPad using your Android Phone too.
There is an application called "DeskSMS", you can download this application for free from Android Market, (for iPhone users, they will have to jailbreak iPhone) The application basically sits on your Android Phone and lets you text from your phone number via your Gmail, Gtalk.
So here is how you can send and receive texts from your TouchPad
-
Step 1) Install DeskSMS on your *phone*. (android Users head to your Android Market, iPhone users check out this)
-
Step 2) TouchPad already has your Google account. So your gTalk is already configured under your TouchPad Messaging.
-
Step 3) Now when you first receive a text message from a friend, lets say Mr. x (ph: 123-456-7890), you will see a notification on your TouchPad to accept the contact as 1234567890@desksms.appspotchat.com. Once you accept that person as your buddy in GTalk, you can then continue the conversation as if you are doing it from your phone.
It is not the perfect solution like webOS phone to HP Touchpad but hey, it works. Give it a try.
