The report is based on the fact that Microsoft recently bought a website by name Socl.com, whose name is indicative of Social networking. This site had hosted one teaser page for a new service called Tulalip (it is name of a Native American tribes which incidentally is based near Redmond- Microsoft’s office). It offered its services in the teaser as a service letting users to search and find and share what you know easily- and that is nothing but the statement alluded to social networking site’s functions. A link describing how it works showed the options of connecting through Facebook or Twitter.
In a surprising twist, the teaser is taken out now and there is a message replacing it- “Thanks for visiting SOCL.com”. It further says that it was an internal Microsoft project that was by mistake published to the web. The message also says that it was not meant to be published.
Does it mean that the incident was having no significance or indicative of Microsoft preparing to jump in the Social Networking bandwagon? The indications and the reasons to do so are quite convincing!
