The Ereader market in US is going to see some exciting action thanks to Sony’s plan to upgrade its Sony Reader. Sony Reader’s new version from the Japanese electronics giant is slated to be priced between id="mce_marker"80 and $300. According to Bloomberg the launch is planned in August. The features and the pricing of the model rivals the Amazon’s Kindle but it is planned to be launched before the Sony’s tablet PCs are out in the market before the end of this year. Sony has plans to integrate its e-book technology with the Android based tablets; these are code named as S1 and S2.

But official sources from Sony contradict some of the Bloomberg speculation saying that the report is inaccurate. The sources asserted that Sony has not released any timing, pricing or the features of the e-reader new version yet.

However, the improved version is not only rivaling the Kindle but also, with Iriver Story HD and Barnes & Noble’s Nook. Iriver is the first e-reader working on Google’s e-Books platform. Barnes & Nobles’ has two versions of Nook ereaders; Simple Touch and Nook Color which has the same functionality f a tablet PC. It is also reported that Amazon is coming up with its own new version of tablet PC and is planning to release in the month of October.
