The present model of the Swift Dzire is 4.16 meter and this is being charged an excise duty of 22 % approximately. But if the length falls to less than 4 meters then the applicable excise duty is 10%, which is less than half of the current excise duty. In terms of rupees, this is going to reduce the price by a staggering Rs 56000, just by reducing the length by a few centimeters.
Maruti Swift Dzire enjoys a great popularity in Indian market and it is largest selling entry level sedan available in India. It has a waiting period of 3 months. Reduction of price is going to further increase its demand and the model is expected to take on the rival competition of Toyota Etios and Volkswagen Vento.
The model is offered in both diesel and petrol models and is priced at Rs 7.07 lakhs and Rs 4.8 lakhs respectively.
