Microsoft has quitely launched its translation services, Windows Live Translator. I don't think this is an official launch but looks like its live and available for use.
BabelFish which is AltaVista's language translation service is now bought by Yahoo. Looks like BabelFish and Windows Live Translator both runs on the same software called "SYSTRAN" which is founded by Dr. Peter Toma in 1968, is one of the oldest machine translation companies.
So if you visit BabelFish and Windows Live Translator, you will see a link pointing to Systran software site.
According to WikiPedia, Yahoo, Microsoft and Google all of them are using Systran software for their translation services but I don't see a systran link on Google Translation services page.
