The latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is finally going to be released. This ultra thin tablet is a must have for any techsavvy person. More details of the tablet are discussed in this article.

Specifications :

Samsung has currently three tablets in the market. This Tablet is expected to make a mark in the market and be a serious rival for the apple ipad.

Screen :

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a screen size of 8.9 inch or 22.6 cm. The resolution of the tablet is 1280 by 600 pixels. It is still not clear whether the screen of this tablet has IPS or not. The screen has other standard features including accelerometer and sensor. The tablet is supposed to use Samsung’s very own user interface “TouchWiz UX” along with the Google Android operating System.

 

Operating System :

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 uses the free Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. Though this version of the operating system was specially made for Tablets, it was already been used in phones. Samsung has modified the OS and has included an app tray similar to the taskbar. Also on the home screen there is a “Live Panel” through which one can access social networks, photos, apps, shortcuts. Samsung is also currently developing a new mobile OS on the platform Bada which is expected to be released later this year. Currently the Android OS has Webkit browser which uses adobe flash like a pro and gives a great internet browsing experience

 

Size :

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is about .33 inch or 8.6 mm in thickness. That is even lower than the thinnest tablet Ipad2 which is .34 inch thin. This makes the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 world’s thinnest Tablet by a tenth of an inch. Also The Tab is equipped with dual cameras which are similar to iPad 2. The front camera is for video calls and is rated two megapixels while the 3 MP back camera is used for capturing HD videos

 

Processor :

The processor of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is more powerful than the processor of other Tablets. It a 1 Ghz dual core processor which can handle HD videos and large WebPages. The Tablet comes with an internal memory of 16GB which can be further increased to 32 to 48 GB by buying a more costly version of the tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is equipped with a high powered battery of 6000 mAh which makes it capable of running up to 10 Hours on battery without recharging. If this is true, then this would be similar to the battery capacity of the old iPad. The pre-release of this tablet was done at CTIA Wireless earlier this year.

 

Cost And Release Date:

The expected cost of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 16 GB version is nearly $469 and the cost of the 32 GB version is $569. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is scheduled to be released in the Indian market in the early summer at an expected cost of Rs 30,000.
