The price of the new tablet RIM PlayBook from BlackBerry was not disclosed by Research in Motion for several months. But a few month earlier the co-CEO of RIM, Jim Balsillie had stated that the Playbook would be priced attractively and would be under Rs 22,770 . Now the price of the much awaited BlackBerry PlayBook has been confirmed.

The listing shown in the screenshot below was taken for a U.S online retailer called Office Depot which sells Office products. According to the listing the PlayBook will be available from the Week 17 of the year 2011 which is in the late April 2011.

The Wi-Fi version of RIM's PlayBook which is powered by BlackBerry operating system will be sold in retail for the affordable price of Rs. 22,770 or $500. It is to be expected that the Wi-Fi+LTE and Wi-Fi+3G version of the Playbook will sold at a price higher than 500$.

The Wi-Fi enabled 16GB version of iPad is on sale by Apple at the price of $500 or Rs. 22,770. This turned out to be quite a crowd puller as Apple sold over a million iPads within a short period of two months. RIM is trying to redo the magic done by Apple with its playbook. But with Samsung Galaxy Tab and iPad already available in the market at the same price only time will tell which would be more successful. Also customers have the option to buy a much advanced Honeycomb or Android 3.0 based Motorola XOOM at Rs. 36,465 or $800
