There is too much competition going on between the largest mobile service providers of India on account of 3G service. Now there are three major companies supplying 3G service in India namely Reliance, Tata Docomo and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).

Though BSNL is the pioneer in 3G service provider in India, It is trying to top the other service provider by increasing the speed of its 3G network. From January 2011, the 3G service of BSNL will have maximum speed of 21 Mbps and a minimum of 14.2 Mbps

Currently the average speed of BSNL 3G services is 3.6 mbps and it is available in 675 cities across the country. The average speed of BSNL 3G services is 7.2 Mbps in select cities.

BSNL is currently working in the upgrading its entire network of 3G service. BSNL has started its up-gradation in the west zone and Rajasthan circle. The west zone consists of states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and some parts of Madhya Pradesh. The up-gradation of 3G network in other telecom circles will start very soon. It is estimated that the completion of the 3G network up-gradation across the whole country will be done by the end of March 2011
