Using Gaming Consoles

If you have kids or you don't, there are chances that you may own a gaming console like XBox 360 or Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 3. What you don't know is that these gaming consoles are not only for your gaming needs. You can actually use your gaming console to play movies, videos, pictures from your computer and stream music, movies from internet to your television sets.

There are softwares like Media Mall's PlayOn, that can be installed on your computer and can access videos from Hulu, CBS, TBS, TNT, Comedy Central (including live television channels from around the world) using custom scripts and plugins. These softwares will work as a media servers and your gaming consoles like Wii, XBox and PlayStation 3 can access these media servers while connected on the same network as your computer.

So now when you connect your gaming console to your television, you have access to the internet on your teleivison sets. Not only you can enjoy the games on your consoles but can also enjoy the internet and entertainment as a whole package. These gaming consoles like PlayStation 3, Wii or XBox 360 can cost you about $200 - $400 depending on your needs.

Using Digital HD Players - Roku, Boxee, Vudu etc.

Now if you don't have a gaming console, an alternative is to buy one of these digital HD media players. These media players come with internet capabilities and can be connected to your home network. These players then connect to your televison sets and you have access to all your videos, music, pictures as well as internet on your TVs.

These digital players costs you between $80 to $200. Some of the good HD players are Roku, Boxee from D-Link and Vudu. Then there is a latest one in the market by Google and Logitech, called Revue which has a built in Google Chrome Browser. So you can watch any web based flash videos on your good old television sets.

Using Good Old Computer - S-Video cable-VGA Cable

Then there is the good old computer that you can connect to your televion sets and you have a full blown internet access in your television. There are plenty of PC To TV Converter boxes and cables that you can buy which can eventually give you full access to your computer on your television sets.
