Major changes are done to the contacts manager with keyboard shortcuts support and custom labels for phone numbers. Some of the newly added features include keyboard shortcuts, custom labels, sorting by last name, and autosave.
Gmail now clubs Mail, Contacts and Tasks together on the top left corner. Users can hide the Contacts and Tasks option by clicking on the right edge of the Mail option. Compose Mail now appears as a button and not as a link.
The most significant concerns that were likely to be improved were in the management of contacts. First, the keyboard shortcuts now also work in the contacts list and the selection and grouping of contacts similar to the operation of the inbox. It is also possible to sort them by name in the other menu actions.Changes to contacts can also be canceled to avoid loss of important information by mistake. Especially now, when the changes are automatically saved.
The idea for this update was to make users feel the entire Gmail interface readily recognizable. Although Gmail, by no means is a Cinderella amongst Email service providers, it readily lives up to its reputation of being the favorite.
