Facebook has announced that it has reached another milestone of 500 million members mark. Now there are nearly one third of the worlds online population is connected by facebook.
Mark Zukerberg, the CEO of Facebook announced its mile stone achievement yesterday on Facebook’s blog. He wrote, “This is an important milestone for all of you who have helped spread Facebook around the world. Now a lot more people have the opportunity to stay connected with the people they care about,”
Facebook stats shows that there are 25 million active users in UK and more than 110 million active users in Europe.By any standards this growth rate is pretty remarkable considering that the site only launch on 2004 and that it only reached the 400 million mark last February.
He also came announced a new Facebook service called Facebook stories, which is a place on the site where the people can post their story categorized by location and theme based.
Facebook has its eyes firmly locked on that one billion mark milestone, no doubt with emerging markets such as India and China they can achieve this very soon..
