Currently, on this planet, the number of mobile phone subscriptions has reached an astounding five billion.

A decade ago, the number of people who were using the mobile phones was about 720 million, according to the data’s released by Ericsson. At present there are about 720 million subscriptions in china alone. In the developing countries like India and china the number of subscribers is increasing at a rapid pace each month. Across the world, everyday, 2 million people are getting new mobile connections.

At present the number of subscribers in India is almost 600 million and it’s keep on increasing day by day. If this developing continues then each and every person will be having a mobile phone in their hands in the next few years.

The globe is still clasped to 2G networks, where as the 3G networks are still very low. At present there are about 500 million 3G connections present and by 2015 it may reach up to 3.5 billion users. The 3G services are started in India but only very less people are making use of 3G service.

Ericsson guesstimates that the number of connected devices will be driving the expansion in the markets which had already reached the saturation point. There will be around 50 Billion mobile devices found across the world by this end of the decade.
