Skype has launched it new Skype Beta 5.0 for windows this week, which would offer a five way video chat within the group. It is much similar to instant messaging where you can add your contacts to the chat, who can drop in and drop out as they wish.

Still, the software is in beta testing, the company told that the original version will be made available later this year.

In the stable version of Skype users are allowed to host video calls to one person at a time, but with the latest version of Skype users will now be able to connect their whole family together for a chat. To use this multiple video chat feature, both the initiator and recipient must have a web cam and the latest Skype Beta 5.0 installed on their PC.

It is important to note that this service is free at the moment as the software is in Beta testing once the stable version is released the company has plans to eventually charge for the group video chat service. To start a group video chat,  just  click on the “ADD” button to add the rest four of them .

Certainly, Skype is not the first to offer this multiple video chat feature. The Skype free competitor VoxOx has offered this service up to three people and ooVoo can support up to six people at a time for chat. So far, Skype has released its Windows version only, but have plans to release its Mac version later this year.
