Reliance has priced its HD DVR for Rs.7,490/- which is far less than Sun DirecTV’s available price of Rs.10000. This service will only be available for top 100 cities across India and covering nearly 6500 towns with over 100,000 retail point through its distributors.

The device offers a high definition image quality which is five times clearer and sharper than the present two million pixel resolution, and also comes with a digital surround sound effect.
DVR, the Digital Video Recording technology allows the user to play, pause and rewind the Live TV, record a Live TV to record a program while watching other program in another channel. The main advantage of DVR is that user can record up to 200 hours of live program. The company clearly said that this new HD DVR feature can be accessed by its existing customers by shifting from SD to HD. Reliance Communications with its new service aims to revolutionize TV viewers across the nation through High Definition video and advanced digital video recording features. The company also offers a 3 in 1 Universal remote to control TV, set top box and music player system.
There are two price range based on the region, one is southern market and non- south market. Non- south market can enjoy this service at entry price of Rs.7,990/- with three month Diamond pack. Whereas the southern market can access this service at Rs.7,790/- for a period of five months with full bouquet of sports channel. Existing customers can shift from SD to HD at a affordable price of Rs.5,990/-.
National Geographic Channel plans to offer its HD channels in India through Reliance Big TV at a complementary rate for all its new customers. The company currently has eight Ku-band transponders on Measat. And will be adding two transponders that will allow more bandwidth to offer more HD channels. Big TV plans to increase their overall channel capacity to over 300 in the next one year.
