DNA India has reported that the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) on Wednesday announced it had tied up with Easy Bill Limited to allow its consumers to pay their electricity bills at any of the 500 outlets.
Easy Bill has 2500 outlets across 15 cities in the country. Customers of BEST in central and south mumbai now can pay their electric bills at any outlets offering easy bill facility. But they will have to pay Rs. 5 as a service fees to use this feature.
How does this work ??
- Bill Issuer (BEST) prints bar coded bill and issue it to customers
- Customer approaches the neighborhood easy bill retail outlet with the bar coded bill Retailer scans the bill, accepts the payments, inputs payment value in the terminal and gives a counter signed receipts to the customer
- All these money are collected in Easy Bill's bank and then transfered to Bill Issuer's bank.
This is a nice service but the only problem is that the customers have to pay Rs. 5 on top of their regular bill to use this service. I am not sure if this is doing any good to the customers or not.
