Apple today launched its much awaited iPad, a device specially made for browsing, reading and sending email, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, reading e-books , etc… It looks like a bigger iPhone with a 9.7 inch touch screen.
iPad has high sensitive and high resolution Multi touch screen that allows the user to physically interact with theapplications and content. It is half an inch thick and weighs 1.5 pounds, and is lighter and thinner than any other laptops or netbooks available in the market.
It is powered by Apple’s own 1GHz ARM A4chip and has up to 64 GB of storage space. It has all the wireless connectivity of the iphone, Bluetooth 2.1, a built-in speaker and microphone, accelerometer and uses the same 30-pin Dock connector as the iPod and iPhone.The device has a 12 new applications specially designed for iPad and will run in all 140,000 apps in the App Store. It has a battery life of 10 hours on working and 30 days on standby mode.
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said that” iPad is our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price”.
iPad now comes in two versions, one with Wi-Fi and the other with Wi-Fi and 3G. It includes the latest 802.11n Wi-Fi, and the 3G versions support which has a speed up to 7.2 Mbps on HSDPA networks. The company also released a new Software Development Kit for iPad which allows the user to create new applications.
iPad will hit the market worldwide in March at starting price of $US499 in US. For other countries the price is yet to be announced.
