Sony announced its new series of Sony VAIO notebooks in the Consumer Electronics Show CES '10 held in France recently. It named them F,Y and z series laptops. Generally it is considered tat laptops are not aimed at multimedia. But Sony aims at the multimedia buffs in its new series of laptops. Sony comforts its customers with Blue-Ray optical drive and the new Transfer Jet Technology in its new releases.

The F-seriesnotebooks are equipped with 1.73GHzIntel core processors with Intel's Turbo Boost Technology. NVIDIA's GeForce GT 330M segment gives the graphic boost in it. Blu-Ray players and burners are also provided with it. This F series will be priced at $1000 (Rs.48000).

The VAIO Y-series comes along with an Intel GS45 Express Chipset and Mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics and the ultra-low voltage 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor . It comes with 13.3-inch LED Backlit display and is going to be priced starting from $800.

The Sony VAIO Z-series is packed with 13.1-inch display VAIO Z-series with Blu-ray drive option and HDMI out. Featuring 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 paired with Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset and Mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD with 256MB of video memory.

It has its other notable special features such as e Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth, electro static touchpad, built-in Motion Eye camera and microphone, Biometric Fingerprint Sensors, etc.

This fully packed Z-series VAIO notebooks are to be priced starting from $1800 (Rs.88000 approx).
