At the two-day Intel Developer forum back in Oct 2006, Karnataka State IT and Biotechnology Minister, M.N. Vidyashankar mentioned that Bangalore would be completely WiMax-enabled from January 2007.
Bharti Airtel, VSNL and BSNL have also tested the new technology and planning to roll out in the near future. There are few players in WiMax currenly who offer their services for only Business Customers. WiMax has been launched by Aircel Cellular in Chennai and by Sify in Bangalore for business customers.
According to Economic Times, Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) has also rolled out WiMax services in India. VSNL is claiming to be the first to be the first (I dont know about that) company to launch WiMax based services in India.
Economic Times reported back in May that Reliance will soon launch its WiMax services in Pune and Bangalore.
And today goBroadband Blog reported that Reliance WiMax in Bangalore is up and running.
Accroding to the blog, Reliable Enterprise, Bangalore is providing pre-launch WiMax broadband connections. Pre launch offer costs 500 for initial installation and is valid through June 15th. Looks like the cost for WiMax is similar to regular Reliance Wired Broadband.
The blog has also provided contact information for Reliable Enterprise, Bangalore for further inquiry.
