But soon Delhi Metro is planning to issue multi purpose smart card which can be used for parking your vehicles at the metro stations or buying food from restaurants at the metro stations.
These multi purpose cards will be similar to bank credit cards and will be available at various facilities. A commuter can swap the card in dedicated machines at entries and parking areas of metro stations. According to Mr. Anuj Dayal (chief spokesperson of Delhi Metro) this new initiative will be in place by the year end and would generate huge revenues. There will be some upgrades in the existing smart cards and they will issue new metro cards with new inbuilt chips which would allow commuters to use this card for multi purpose.
