Is that a coincidence or what? Microsoft today announced the launch of their Web-based service that will let users store, share, and back up data from their mobile phones and Google also launched its Mobile Sync services.
Microsoft's service is called Microsoft My Phone. Microsoft has one more service called Live Mesh which synchronizes your PC, Webtop, Phone and Mac via its Mesh interface. Though Mesh is in Beta and is not available for Mac or mobile phones.
While Google launched its Sync service which allows your iPhone, Symbian phones, Android phones, Windows Mobile Phones, Macs, PCs and Linux devices to synchronize with your Gmail/Contacts and Calendar via internet. Microsoft My Phone will only be available for Windows Mobile phones though.
I just added Google as my ActiveSync server source and it started synchronizing my contacts and calendar. The moment I added an appointment into my Google Calendar, it appeared into my Motorola Q immediately. That was just amazing. So far Google Sync for my mobile looks pretty amazing.
