Updates: Chintee.com is keep building more and more suspense about its launch. Just today I noticed that they have added another poll for the website. The poll is to guess what chintee.com is about.

Reliance WiMax now available in Bangalore

At the two-day Intel Developer forum back in Oct 2006, Karnataka State IT and Biotechnology Minister, M.N. Vidyashankar mentioned that Bangalore would be completely WiMax-enabled from January 2007.

Bharti Airtel, VSNL and BSNL have also tested the new technology and planning to roll out in the near future. There are few players in WiMax currenly who offer their services for only Business Customers. WiMax has been launched by Aircel Cellular in Chennai and by Sify in Bangalore for business customers.

BTIS - Bangalore Transport Information System goes Hi-Tech

Back in February I wrote about Bangalore Traffic interactive google map. Well looks like that beta phase is over and Bangalore has just launched a new website.

Bangalore is going hi-tech with electronic billboards, SMSes and handheld devices to check traffic jams. Bangalore Traffic Police is calling this campaign the "B-TRAC 2010" and formally launched this new website BTIS - Bangalore Transport Information System last friday.

The site has live traffic information, driving directions, safety information and they will soon add "Carpool" feature to it.
 
Cell phone signals will be used to keep an eye on traffic movement. The B-TRAC is being implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 400 million, a senior city police official said.

Delhi Metro to start multi purpose smart card

Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System or Delhi Metro which opened back in December 2002 became the second underground rapid transit system in India (first one in Kolkata).

Delhi Metro which is divided in Red, Yellow and Blue Lines will be completed in Phases. Phase I of the network comprises 65.11 km of route length with 13.01 km underground called Metro corridor and 52.10 km surface/elevated called Rail Corridor. Phase II is presently under construction with the target completion date of 2010.
 
Delhi metro customers have few choices for the ticket purchase.

1. Smart Card -- which is quite convenient for the frequent commuters. The validity is one year and these cards are available in the denominations of Rs. 50, 100, 200 and 500. And ofcourse there are some 10% discount given on each recharge.

After reliance now Tata Teleservices has launched a handset priced at Rs 999, inclusive of all taxes in Tamil Nadu according to a press release. The handset is Samsung HERO Nxt (image above. source:samsung.com).
