Cell phone manufacturers are tying up with Google

Google applications are being recognized as industry standard now a day. Google is also focusing on deploying their applications at enterprise level.

Cell phone manufacturers are also making handsets with Google applications compatibility. Take iPhone for an example. iPhone has built in feature for Google Maps and YouTube. YouTube just released its mobile website http://m.youtube.com. The site transmits videos over RTSP protocol instead of transferring over HTTP (normal web) protocol. Lot of phones doesn’t support this feature. Even iPhone’s browser doesn’t support RTSP protocol. And that’s why iPhone has special application called “YouTube” which uses different way of displaying YouTube videos.

RailTel will soon provide Internet in running trains

RailTel Corporation of India, a Public Sector Company Undertaking by Ministry of Indian Railways is all over the news portals recently. The Economic Times recently published this news that RailTel is planning to install wi-fi at near about 500 Railway Stations. But this news was published back in Oct. 2006 on RailTel's website.

Right after this news, RailTel also published a news about providing internet access on running trains. According to the site, RailTel has successfully carried out tests on a few long distance trains and the results says that passengers could experience seamless connectivity on running trains.

MySpace starts Video Sharing Site to fight against YouTube

Back in June there were rumors about News Corp might sell their popular social networking site MySpace to Yahoo. According to these rumors, the deal was expected to be around 12 million. So I don't know what happened about that rumor, but what I know is that MySpace is ready to fight against YouTube, currently the king of video sharing website.

Google owned YouTube is currently standing at rank 4 according to Alexa traffic ranking and MySpace is ranking No. 6. If you look at Orkut, Google's social networking site, it is trying hard to compete with MySpace but MySpace is still beating it up.

Delhi Airtel customers now can track their mobile phone

Few months back I wrote an article about the application which helps you track your mobile phone if its stolen. The application is called Micro LMTS which is developed by Micro Technologies, a mumbai based firm.

Recently, The Hindu has reported that Micro Technologies has agreed to offer this technology to Bharti Airtel in Delhi. Airtel subsrcibers will be able to use this tracking service.

"This tie-up would be beneficial for all. While Airtel subscribers will experience a high-end technology, the company will expand its reach to a large number of mobile subscribers," said a release from Micro Tech

Google Maps now shows exit numbers for major highways

I remember till few months back, Google maps were not showing exit numbers on their maps for major highways. I think till that point, google maps had only couple of features that were missing. One was this exit numbers and the second one is showing Shortest/Fastest routes for the driving directions.

Yes, the reason why I mentioned "One was.." because now Google maps shows exit numbers for major highways. This exit numbers are shown as green circle with white color exit numbers.
