FindNearYou.com, a new startup in the local search niche which provides local buinsess listings, events, services, places to stay etc for your city. The tagline says, find anything anytime near you. Currently FindNearYou covers Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Though the site is useful, it lacks in user experience. It looks cluttered and confusing. The links are not organized and its all over the page.
FindNearYou is a hotchpotch of classifieds, events, local search, blogs and what not. One good thing about FindNearYou.com is that you can access it on your mobile browser by visiting Wap.findnearyou.com.
So back to the incident I was talking about for JustDial. My brother in law is a doctor and he is pretty busy throughout the year. Being a techie, I entered his business information into JustDial. I told him that one should have his/her online presence in the current era. So JustDial called him up for the verification and different business listing options. Meanwhile, my brother-in-law find out that one of his doctor friend had his business listed in JustDial.com. So he called his friend and asked him about the service and his friend was like "I never got a single patient from JustDial.com".
The point is, bussinesses are still running through a word of mouth in India. Though ecommerce is picking up, I still think that people trust their friends and family's experience and would prefer to do the business based on word of mouth and not through the local search engine.
