A new startup will help people find well-qualified lawyers for their legal needs online. Its called AdvocateKhoj.com, which is basically a case post system for consumers. Its a joint venture between two privately funded firms, NeoSystems Inc (India based) and Nubia Inc(US based). So wether you are looking for Fraud Insurance Lawyer, Malpractice Lawyer or Personal Injury Lawyer, you can find it at AdvocateKhoj.com
According to the founders (from the email I received from Neha Singh), AdvocateKhoj networks lawyers from 250 locations in India. It doesn't say how many lawyers are currently working with AdvocateKhoj.com. People in India who are in need of legal assistance can present their case by answering some simple questions about their legal situation free of cost on the AdvocateKhoj website and without revealing their identity.
Here is what I think about AdvocateKhoj.com. People in India are not that friendly when it comes to courts and police. People in India always try to solve the problem on their own and would go to the lawyer/police as a last resource. Also the businesses like Lawyers and Doctors works on a word of mouth basis. It would be difficult for people to trust the lawyer they find out on some portal.
Will AdvocateKhoj.com provide the track records for Advocates who would work with them? How authenticate that information would be?
AdvocateKhoj.com is a startup based on the concept that was successful in USA, Europe etc. Western countries are different when it comes to law and order. Lawyers do pretty good online such as DUI Florida Lawyer or Arizona Divorce Lawyers etc. US has sites like FindLaw.com or Lawyers.com where you can find the lawyer for your case.
While India is still struggling to streamline its law and order, AdvocateKhoj.com has a long way to go. I wish AdvocateKhoj.com good luck for their venture.
