Looks like India has startups popping up every day. City centric startups, shopping specific startups, networking startups and {ln:Make MS Office Documents Live 'online collaboration products}. Looks like India doesn't have any innovative products. All I have seen so far is some sort of clone for something. So what do we have today?
Well today we have three startups, ShoppingShouts.com, MetroMela.com and GoKut.com. While Gokut is trying to mimic Orkut(as name suggest) and MetroMela addreses the already crowded city centric information portal, ShoppingShouts.com does have something different. So lets see what each startup has to offer and whether the site is useful or not.
ShoppingShouts.com - The site provides an interface where you can share/flaunt your joy and delight of shopping with their friends, colleagues, neighbors and the world. The site is for anyone who loves to share his/her shopping experience with others. You need to register before you can post your shout. Now I don't see lot of people going to the site just to share their shopping experience. Not lot of people like to show off their shopping stuff. I go for shopping, buy stuff come back home and what would make me login to this site and post my shopping shouts?
ShoppingShouts.com is been active for sometime now I guess. I have seen some shouts 6-7 months old. The site doesn't have enough traffic to get listed in Alexa.com. All I can say is Good Luck to ShoppingShouts.com

The site currently covers Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Vizag, Cochin and Mysore. The information is categoriezed in Shopping, Food and Entertainment, Health & Welness and family & kids. I don't see lot of value for this site.
{ln:nw:http://www.GoKut.com 'GoKut.com} - A clone of Orkut. Nothing special about this site. The same old Social Networking site which has the same old features that other thousands of sites have. Just the other day I saw their paid advertisement while I was searching something in Google. Looks like they are using adwords for their marketing.
Where is innovation?
