This is a perfect example of using Web 2.0 wisely and constructively. I see orkut, Facebook, MySpace etc social networkings sites as a wastage of time. If you can get something out of your social networking, I see a greate of value in that. LiveMocha.com, a site which helps you learn a new language Web 2.0 style. The site rides one of the greatest macro economic trends of our time - globalization.
LiveMocha is an interactive online community that includes lessons, chat and motivational tools to keep you on track in learning new languages. Learning a new language is hard but if you have right people and right tools that can help you learn it, it makes the task easier. Even if you know a language, its good to make it better.
Currently the site supports English, Spanish, French, Hindi, German, Mandarin and Chinese. The site is planning to include more languages in future. The site provides a tutor for a particular language from within its community. Though the site is currently free, I believe they might make it paid after sometime. But its free for now.
