Say The Restaurant Name & Get Food Delivered At Your Home

Ever wonder if you can just say "Send me Chinese Food" and the food gets delivered at your doorstep. It feels like you are a king, you can just order food and your servents will serve it for you. I think I got carried away little bit. Anyways, but yeah you can do something similar too.

There is this new website called Ubona.com, a site which provides a first of its kind service that empowers consumers to avail lifestyle products and services with convenience. Ubona’s first service is for the foodies of Bangalore which enables calling any wine & dine place by just saying the name of the place. There is no need to look up directories or call directory helplines. Just call Ubona's Foodie Hotline to get connected.

The hotline number is 080-40700000. How to use it? Just say the name of the restaurant e.g. "Magnolia" and you will be connected to Magnolia Restaurant(chinese & Thai cuisine). Or you can use that number to get their address and phone number or reserve a table or just get through the take out menu.

The most difficult task for voice related services is to recognize the voice command. I hope the speech recognization technology that Ubona is using is capable of recognizing different kinds of accents. But other than that, its really a great service.

As you all know, Google recently launched its 5GOOG service and Yahoo also launched its oneSearch SMS service. How long would it take for them to launch their voice services just like Ubona. Mind that Ubona is only available for Bangalore. If Yahoo and Google launches this kind of service, it would be nationa wide and that time Startups like Ubona would have tough time competing.

The best case scenario would be the one when Google or Yahoo will buy Ubona for their technology. I wish Ubona.com a best of luck for their startup and hope they achieve the "Best Case Scenario".

I tried this service and found it to be very cool. It has a simple user interface, crisp prompts...and in just a few seconds, I got connected to the restaurant I wanted.

No need to save phone numbers on the mobile anymore. Awesome!!

Their speech recognition seems pretty robust. I spoke from a noisy environment and yet it worked flawlessly.

Nice to see such sophisticated services emerging form India.

hey ....i am glad u guys find the service useful ...currently we have just test launched in bangalore to start with restaurants .... Soon this service will be launched for other domains like automotive, entertainment, real estate, personal care etc across the country .....and you will be able to call up and say whats on your mind....even ' Send me chinese food ' and feel like a king ....thats not far away ...till then enjoy the foodie hotline .....and keep the feedback rolling ...........
