A Bangalore based company, Digital Waves, has launched a new tablet in the Indian market. It is called Tabplus Rio. It is priced at Rs. 11, 990. It is an Android 2.3 tablet which comes with a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor. It has a 7 inch screen and the storage capacity is up to 32 GB via Micro SD.
India’s tablet market has seen rising competition in the recent years. Many local manufacturers are dishing out so many devices at affordable rates. As per the Manufacturer’s Association of the Information Technology Industry, the experts are estimating that the manufacturers will be able to sell around 300,000 tablets in this current business year. Tablets are likely to grow at a rate of 100% in the new category. The laptop category may see a rise of only 15%.
Tabplus Rio comes with a one year warranty. It is slated to be shipped free of cost all across India. It has a five point capacitive display and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System. It is also powered by a Mali 400 GPU. It features 512 MB of DDR2 RAM. Other features include an 800 x 480 pixels resolution display. There is 4 GB of built-in storage memory expandable to 32 GB. There is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g connectivity.
The 3G connectivity is via the USB dongle and this is available only on select models. There is a micro USB port, a USB port, HDMI-out, front facing camera and a 3,000 mAh battery. It also bears a four-side G-Sensor for gaming. It weighs 350 grams and measures 203x120x13mm.
