ThinkingSpace Technologies which was started in May 2007 by three computer engineering graduates from University of Pune, has just launched their first product in Beta called ActiveCiti.com. The trio (Don't know the names. I might have to shoot an email to them to know about them more) from University of Pune wants to create smart, extremely simple software which solves important, everyday problems. Huh !!
You might think of this website as some kind of city related information, but its not a city specific site. The site is basically event management tool where you can create your events, invite your friends and manage your event.
The site needs registration to use its features. Once registered, one can create events and invite their friends/family to the event. The site has provided an option to import Gmail, Yahoo or any other addressbook in .CSV format. One good thing about creating an event is, you can have your own URL for your event to share with your friends. Making an event public, you can share it with the world.
Few points that I would like to focus here are some form fields for creating an event.
- City field is kept an open field so that anyone can enter anything -- possible wrong data.
- Site provides an option to embed a location map of the event on the event page. Gmaps, yahoo maps, MapMyIndia now allows an option to generate a URL for your location so that you can embed that URL to your websites.
- Site also provides an option to create poll along with your event. May be you have few options to ask to your group and based on the poll you can decide what to arrange. So this is definitely useful feature.
I don't know how this site is different than eVite.com or mypunhcbowl.com or any other event management site but definitely has few good features that might be useful for event management.
Good luck to the Trio.
