Thrive is an Android tablet that runs on Google’s Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb Operating System. We do not know yet whether it will be upgraded to the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later. A 16 GB model is priced at $380. It is priced to give competition to Acer Iconia Tab A100 and costs less than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus which is priced at $400.
The display and design make this tablet stand out. The high resolution display delivers more dense pixels per inch count. It works out to actually 225 pixels per inch. The extra pixels make a big difference. The text appears sharp and crisp. There are no hazy dots. Only iPhone 4’s crisp retina display looks smoother.
The sharpness of the screen makes reading a pleasure. The images reveal fantastic detail and clarity. Toshiba has also taken some steps to minimize the glare. It has boosted the viewing angle too.
The colors on this 7” Thrive are not so vibrant. The design is rubberized with an easy grip back cover. The tablet has 7.44”x5.04”x0.48” size dimensions. It looks very similar to the Amazon Kindle Fire. The Thrive feels better in one hand. You can charge the tablet through the sizable docking connector on the bottom of the device.
