There are more rumours of a four inch iOS device. Few weeks back, Apple was approaching Sharp to produce displays for their upcoming iPad. There were rumours also that LG and Samsung will be supplying displays for the Apple slate, probably iPad3. Now, there is fresh information about a four inch display that has surfaced.

Hitachi Displays Limited and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have collaborated the four inch LCDs for the new iOS device for iPad 3. These two companies will be merging their businesses with Toshiba Mobile Display Company Limited and will be collectively known as `Japan Display’ in a few months’ time. The device in question could be iPhone 5.

Apple may lose their Retina Display if they intend to increase the size of the display. Should the brand intend to increase the display size, then they would have to keep their resolution at 640x960 pixels, reducing the density. Retina Display is the pixel density along with the distance of the iPhone to our eyes. Retina Display can be retained if it is held slightly further from the eyes. All have to wait and see what Apple does to satisfy its customers.

As with all things concerning Apple, rumours will continue to pile up till the day of a product announcement.
