The iPhone App Store has become staggering with the sheer amount of games that are available to customers. While this means that competition is quite high, it may take some time to figure out which games are worth it and which simply are a waste of space. Retro games are perfect for both old and new generations alike.
They possess the unique ability to take a simple premise, and turn it into hours of fun. It may be time to renew those cell phone plans, stop hurling birds at pigs, and take a look at a few amazing classics that the iPhone has to offer.
It does not get any more retro than that lovable yellow ball known as Pac-Man. This iconic game takes only moments to learn, but will result in a nearly unlimited amount of play time. Available on iTunes, users direct Pac-Man through all the original mazes in an attempt to gather up fruit, earn points, and avoid enemies.

Keeping in line with the trend of some very old school games, iTunes is also offering Space Invaders. This simple game seems to have been taken straight out of the arcade and put on the iPhone. Users fly around a world of enemy ships and monsters in levels that range from beginner to unbearably impossible.
Much like the premise of Space Invaders, battling through the world of Galaga has entertained people of all ages for years on end. Zip around the galaxy, battling monsters and rescuing crashed fighters to meet each challenge with new weapons and technology.

Oregon Trail, the bane of millions of students, is now available on the iPhone. Travellers can now enjoy the world of the American Pioneer in an attempt to traverse the United States and start a new life in the West. Beware of dysentery, treacherous white water rapids, and wild animals.

Doom Classic has defined first person shooters since its original release and is now available for the iPhone. Relentless monsters, scantily-clad women, and hilarious catch-phrases are still the norm with this classic.
For those interested in a little action and adventure, Prince of Persia is the way to go. While the controls, plot, and game play are all very simple, very few games have managed to become as addictive as users slash, leap, and fight their way through Persia.

Lucas Arts is not just known for Star Wars, their Monkey Island game of puzzles is the perfect time-killer for all ages. While the point-and-click adventure remains almost identical to the original series, the artwork has been redrawn to add a breath of fresh life to this classic.

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to some of the amazing games that have survived throughout the years. There is no better time than the present for the older generations to get an exciting blast from the past and for newer generations to get a glimpse of some of the classics.
